INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT

“Be the change that you want to see in the world.”

Too often in life, we wait around for someone else to instigate the changes we want to see. Wedoubt our own ability and become paralyzed to action, thinking either we are not solely capableof bringing the changes about, or that someone else will get around to it.But this inability to act alone is all in our head. Because history bears witness that the mostextraordinary things were done by the most ordinary people. So if we have ever wished to be able to do something for the greater good, the time could not bemore right. We don’t have to make radical changes for our efforts to count, because the smallchanges make a big difference. Contribute today!

Education
Mission Education provides basic education and healthcare to underprivileged children, with the belief that education is both the means as well as the end to a better life because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood while also increasing one's awareness on a range of issues; in the process helping him/her evolve as a better citizen with a brighter future.
Healthcare
“He who has health has hope; and he who has hope has everything”
Cameroon still struggling with Improvement in the health sector since independence.
However, various eye opening data from MINSANTE clearly indicate that access to basic healthcare stillremains a challenge, especially to the unreachable and needy young population of the rural areas. While the health statistics of rural Cameroon continue to be poor, the health status and access tohealth for the poor in urban slum dwellers has surfaced to be equally deplorable and have lessthan 4% of government primary healthcare facilities.Urban slum dwellers suffer from adverse health conditions owing to mainly two reasons –firstthe lack of education and thus lack of awareness; and second the unwillingness to lose a day’swage in order to reach the nearest medical facility. Healthcare for underprivileged, which is adesperate need, thus remains unaddressed. The need of the hour is thus a two pronged approach – first to bring quality healthcare servicesto doorsteps of the needy and second to promote healthcare awareness and contemporary healthcare seeking behavior among the underprivileged.
Women empowerment
Various studies, as well as our experience, have shown that when we work towards womenempowerment, the whole society benefits. But unfortunately in African in general, far from being empowered, most women are denied even their basic rights like health, education, employment and a respectable status in society.
According to a recent UNDP Human Development Report, Cameroon has an imbalanced sexratio, the chief reason being rampant female infanticide and sex-selective abortions.CEWA organizes programmes specifically aimed at realization of both individual and collectiveself-esteem and inner strength for marginalized and socially excluded women and adolescentgirls through innovative community practices. The programme identifies adolescent girls and women from the community and develops theminto Change Agents, who in turn actively contribute to the community mobilization process.
Livelihood
The youth comprises over one-third of the Cameroon population which in turn constitutes amajor part of the labour force of the country. The number of underprivileged youth in Cameroon who lacks education and proper guidance is so huge that according to the countrysreports “Only about 15% of the young graduates passing out of colleges are employable; the restare branded ‘unemployable’.”It is not their lack of theoretical knowledge that causes this. Instead, it is the lack of right skillsand attitude. There is thus, an increasing concern among the leading employers of the country, about the shortage of ready-to-deliver employees. In addition, the macro perspective affirms that,it is crucial for the energy of the underprivileged youth to be channelized properly with properdirection to aid economic growth and nation building to elude their addition to family woes, social stress and national misery.CEWA therefore in partnership with other organization and stakeholders organizes workshopsand trainings to hand tool children youths and women by means of capacity building andsustainable skill development.CEWA also organizes programmes to trains the urban underprivileged youth in EnglishProficiency, Basic Computer Education and Soft Skills for enhancing their prospects ofemployment in the fast expanding retail, hospitality
